About politics
Firstly, I wish to commence this
story with a confession - I am not someone who is interested in politics. Nevertheless,
I also feel that I don't deserve to be called an apoliticism. I live government
as a pervasive role in various facets of my life, encompassing my commitment to
societal service through a government agency. In my perspective, politics
functions as a tool (or a way) to organize togetherness in a place with the
ultimate aim being societal justice for all.
Maybe it would be better to get
straight to the point, regarding the upcoming event, national election. I
personally believe that regardless of the leader, my life will not undergo a
significant transformation. However, as a citizen who may not harbour a deep
interest in politics, I recognize my full responsibility to shape my own
destiny.
Anyone
(country) is welcomed to chase anything. I will stay in the rhythm of finding my way.
Hence, I am inclined to vote for
someone who I think shares my perspective. Someone cannot be controlled by
others. There is nothing wrong in being strong-willed. What happens to a leader
who cannot keep his vision alive? Though nothing is perfect in this world, I believe
each leader have a virtue in their vision; still, none will be flawless.
Overtime, I have adopted another
perspective, "Choosing a leader is not just for oneself but also for
others." Especially for those who feel their lives will not change much no
matter who the leader is, but somewhere out there, in the country, there are some
people whose lives depend on the results of this election. Thus, it might
be wiser for a voter to envision the future impact of their choice, apart from
giving space to their ego.
I started to reset the criteria for candidates by prioritizing those who will unlikely to harm any community. Every time I explore the potential impacts, I find that no candidate is entirely harmless. Some destruction are bound to happen, even the tiniest scratch. Does not it sound ironic? Vote someone not for yourself, but it will still keep hurting others. Someone said to me, " Choose the one with the potential to inflict less damage than the others." Is that a right thing to do? I imagine it like, "Just vote for someone who beat the people rather than the other who stabbed them."
If
someone claims to be a next leader with projections goals solely for personal
benefit, in my opinion, he is not worthy of being called a leader, whatever
title he may holds.
From here, I attempted to
persuade myself once more to explore some of the best possibilities for my
choice. "If all of them yield negative impact on people, at least the
nature can survive without being harmed" the naive me said to me. If
living creatures with the ability to feel and voice their concerns can be
harmed, how about the nature? Unable to enter the voting booth and have no
right to choose, it is defenseless. Ah I hate it, so many "if" start
from the last paragraph, but I would like to share the conversation that I had with my friend:
·
what if the title of leader on
Earth were not given to humans?
o
yea, maybe the mountain will
take it, or the king of the forest, a bird whose territory includes all of the
sky spread, or the source of life which is ocean.
·
yea yea, what is the
point?
o
the point is that nature is not
as weak as you think, they have their own way to recover, they admit the title
of leader on earth is "human", but if the leaders exploit
destructively, they can also attack them back,
it
is the same as people.
When the elected leader is a
depraved individual, let us face it together. Snatch a line from my friend,
"People are stronger than what you think". In the end, do not be afraid
to vote just because none of them are good enough, they are not prophet anyway.
Millions and hundreds of societies would not blame your choice because,
basically, no one will pick something detrimental. Let it be based on peoples’
perspectives, everyone has their own. It is democracy, you are free to choose.
Only strong people can determine
how they will meet their end,
and hopefully, it comes with a beautiful ending.
